"Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother's womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God who does all things." -Ecclesiastes 11:5
I can't believe we've made it to the 8 month mark! It's quite exciting and frightening at the same time. Some days I feel more prepared than other days. Patrick put the crib together last night. I think he did so in record time. Just seeing it in the nursery (considering nothing else is really ready in that room other than the paint) makes things feel much closer as well.

At this point, James is the size of a honeydew (which is probably the only fruit I don't care to eat). He is past the 4 pound mark and 19 inches long (I expect this baby to be long and lean; given the fact that at one point his legs measured 1 week ahead of the curve). He has developed his own immune system at this point (another relief if he decides to make an early appearance). He is apparently starting some semblance of a sleep cycle, but I feel like he is awake and moving all the time causing my belly to catch people off guard as he spontaneously moves me from the inside. My OB says he's growing just as expected. I've started going every 2 weeks now and will probably get an ultrasound around the end of March.
The heart burn thankful was pretty short lived and I've not had too much issue with that anymore. I continue to get winded quite easily and the fatigue remains constant. I don't have trouble falling asleep, but when I wake up in the middle of the night, I have trouble going back to sleep, which makes for groggy mornings! :) My belly button is still an innie at this point, so I guess I still have a little more room to give although it doesn't really feel like it. Most people are commenting on a daily basis on how big I've grown over the past couple of weeks, which done in the right manor doesn't bother me; some however, have yet to discover a tactful way to say so.
And yes, I am making Patrick go to a child birth class. We first showed up to the wrong class (had to sit in the front row of the pumping class) and then when she made everyone introduce themselves, I had to stop convulsing with laughter to tell her we were not in the right place. Our actual class was hilarious in itself and I had more trouble controlling my laughter and acting like an adult than anyone else. I'm not proud of that, but seriously some of the stuff was just flat out crazy; yet somehow I was the only one laughing. I will try to behave a little better this week.
We had another shower this weekend and once again, I have been humbled by all the love and support given by family and friends. This shower included many of my neighbors who have watched me grow up since I was in kindergarten; showered me with love during my wedding time and now are celebrating James's pending arrival. It's hard to put into words how appreciative we are and how generous people have been to us at such a special time in our lives.
Cute decor! Diaper cake (made by Kelly and her mom), delicious punch and monogrammed cake
Mom, me and James

Beautiful blanket made by Doreen; can't wait to snuggle James up in this

Sweet Hostesses. Kelly, me and Allison on February 18th
Second shower hostesses. Ellen, Ellen and Lenore. My mom and I threw Ellen a shower around 2 years ago; so it was kind of fun to go full circle. The food was homemade and delicious
Showing off some of the cute outfits
All the amazing gifts (and not even pictured is the mattress from my mom and our travel system from my grandmother!)
So now that the crib is purchased and put together, we are waiting for the dresser/changing table to arrive. Having difficulty finding a glider that I like that also matches the room, so that's next on my to purchase list. Still having trouble deciphering which pediatrician is right for us (have I mentioned that I'm absolutely no good at making decisions)?? We meet with the craniofacial team this Thursday; I guess sort of as an introduction to what will be the next couple of months/years of our lives. So that will be another thing to hopefully gather more information at. All in all, we're moving right along and will hopefully get it all together in the next 8 weeks.
Patrick and Robert are running the River Run this weekend, so say a little prayer for them. Patrick did a little cross training today; this is what I caught him doing
A little bit of raking/yard work! I know I've never seen him do that before and I didn't even have to ask!
